· After reading at least 3 different definitions of ideology, create a pictorial (picture/illustration) definition of the term.
A system of ideas or ideals ( couldn't make a photo)
Task: 2
1) Read the section from the information sheet ‘Ideology for A2 Students’ (no. 038) on dominant ideologies.
2) Give your own example of a dominant ideology in our society (not one listed on the information sheet).
a) Do you agree with this dominant ideology?
b) What can be done to challenge this ideology?
No I do not agree with because things that are un-true may be spread around this has in the past caused stereotypes about types of people and races. To change it you could try to get rid of dominant ideology but that wont happen so to change it we could try to not make things up about stereotypes and be more accepting as a society
· Many people believe that the media, news corporations in particular, are guilty of constructing dominant ideologies in society.
1. What impact could headlines such as this (see right), taken from the Daily Mail, have on the dominant ideologies in society?
Head lines like that would make it seem like everyone on welfare is vile which is not true as some people may be desperate for that money. So unlucky people would be marked "scruffy".
Task: 5
1. Read the section from the information sheet ‘Ideology from Representations for A2 Media’ (no. 020) on Binary Oppositions.
2. Complete the following table (similar to the one on the information sheet) using your own texts (can be films, television programmes or video games):
Good Values

Battling crime, violence (against criminals), revenge for violence against the family
Cold Case
Trying to get justice
What Women Want
Family, true love, commitment within relationships, respect between men and women
